// why oneeleven

Senior control. SME fit.

We work exclusively with small and growing businesses who need real financial control, not a generalist consultant.

No full-time overhead
A full-time Finance Controller costs £70k–£90k in salary alone, before pension, NI, and benefits. With OneEleven you get the same calibre, paying only for the days you actually need.
Hands-on, not advisory
We deliver real work: management accounts, cash flow forecasts, team oversight. Not slide decks.
One person. Accountable.
You work with the same person every time. No juniors, no handoffs, no "I'll need to check with the team."
Scales with you
Start light, increase days during busy periods or growth phases. Monthly rolling, no lock-in. It flexes around your business.
// financial control health check

How much control do you actually have?

Seven quick questions. A straight verdict at the end, even if the verdict is that you don't need us.

What we
do.

Four services. Each one built around how growing businesses actually need financial support, not how accountancy firms like to package it.

Start with what you need now. Scale up as your business grows. No long-term lock-in, no unnecessary complexity.

retainer

Part-time Finance Controller

A senior FC embedded in your business, on your terms. Two tiers depending on what you need: month-end cover, or full FC engagement.

// the problem
"My bookkeeper tells me what happened. My accountant files the numbers. Nobody is actually helping me run the business."
// sound familiar?
"I need financial control but a full-time FC feels like a big overhead I can't justify yet. I just need someone reliable on the numbers."

Full FC support

typically 1–2 days / week
Full Finance Controller engagement: embedded in the business, owning the finance function end to end. Everything in month-end cover, plus:
  • Cash flow management & forecasting
  • Budgeting & variance analysis
  • Finance team oversight
  • Year-end & audit readiness
  • Board & management reporting
  • Systems & process improvement
// who this is for
Businesses turning over £1m–£15m who've outgrown their bookkeeper
Founders who want to hand off the financial detail and focus on the business
Owner-managed businesses needing financial control without full-time overhead

Not sure which tier is right for you?

Tell us where you are and we'll recommend the right level of support. Honestly.

high impact

Year-end & audit support

Arrive at year-end prepared. Reduce your accountancy fees. Take the stress out of the process, and the surprise out of the bill.

// the problem
"Every year my accountant spends the first few hours just getting up to speed with our books, and charges me for every minute of it."
// the hidden cost
"The audit bill is always bigger than expected. I never really understand why, or what I could do differently to bring it down."
// what we do
Pre year-end preparation
We get your books in order before your accountant arrives. Reconciled accounts, clear records, everything organised and ready. No surprises.
// what you get
Lower fees. Less stress.
Your accountant spends less time digging through records, which means a faster audit and a smaller bill. This service typically pays for itself.
// how it works
Timed around your year-end
We engage 6–8 weeks before your year-end, work through your records, and have answers ready for every question your accountant will ask.
// what's included
Full accounts reconciliationBank, debtors, creditors, payroll: all reconciled and clean before year-end.
Audit query supportYour team fields auditor queries with answers we've prepared in advance. Fast responses, fewer billable hours.
Records organisationEvery document and invoice your auditor needs, organised and ready to go.
VAT reconciliationVAT control account fully reconciled and differences corrected in your ledgers, ready for your accountant's review.
Prior year comparisonClear year-on-year comparison so your accountant can work efficiently.
Post year-end debriefWhat we found and recommendations to make next year even smoother.
// who this is for
Any business that feels its audit fees are higher than they should be
Businesses where year-end is stressful, disorganised, or always last-minute
Owner-managers spending too much time fielding accountant queries

When is your year-end?

Get in touch 6–8 weeks before and we'll make sure you're ready. This service typically pays for itself.

ongoing + annual

Financial insight

Management information that actually means something. Budgets and plans that get used. Visibility over your numbers so you can make better decisions, faster.

// the problem
"I get a set of accounts every month but I don't really know what they're telling me. I'm making decisions based on gut feel, not data."
// on planning
"We've never done a proper budget. I know roughly what I want to achieve but I've never sat down and built a plan around the numbers."

Budget & planning support

annual · project
A proper annual budget process, scenario modelling, and a 3-year plan that gives you a financial roadmap, not just a spreadsheet.
  • Annual budget build
  • Scenario & sensitivity modelling
  • 3-year financial plan
  • Monthly budget vs actual
  • Reforecast through the year
// who this is for
Businesses that get monthly accounts but don't feel they understand them
Owner-managers who've never done a formal budget or financial plan
Growing businesses preparing for investment, lending, or a step-change in scale

Want better visibility over your numbers?

We'll show you what good management information looks like for a business your size. No commitment required.

project

One-off assignments

Not every problem needs a long-term relationship. Sometimes you just need someone experienced to step in, solve the problem, and leave things better than they found them.

// the problem
"We have a specific financial challenge: a funding application, a system that's a mess, a cash flow crisis. We need expert help to get through it."
// the hesitation
"I don't need someone permanently. I just need the right person for this one thing, without signing up to something long-term."
// what we do
Targeted project work
We scope the problem, agree a clear deliverable, and get it done. No retainer required, no ongoing commitment unless you want one.
// what you get
The problem solved
A specific outcome: a model built, a process fixed, a forecast you can stand behind. Clear scope, clear timeline, clear cost.
// how it works
Scoped and fixed fee
We agree the brief upfront. Fixed fee where possible, so you know exactly what you're getting and what it costs before we start.
// examples of one-off work
Covenant reporting setupWe build the model, templates, and month-end routine your team uses to produce lender covenant reporting in-house. Set up once, run by you.
Finance function reviewA full review of your finance setup: what's working, what isn't, what to fix first.
Funding readinessFinancial models and forecasts built with your team, so you approach lenders and investors with numbers you own and understand.
Cash flow recoveryUrgent support when cash flow is under pressure. We identify the problem and fix it fast.
Interim FC coverCovering a gap between a departing FC and their replacement. No disruption.
Financial health checkA structured review of your numbers: profitability, cash, and where the real risks are.
// who this is for
Businesses with a specific financial challenge that needs experienced hands
Companies with lender covenants who need a reliable in-house reporting routine
Businesses covering an FC gap or going through a period of change

Have a specific problem in mind?

Tell us what you're dealing with. If we can help, we'll scope it and give you a fixed price.

// where we stop

We're not your accountant, and we don't want to be. Tax returns, statutory accounts, audit opinions, and filings stay with them. Our job is handing them clean, reconciled numbers, which makes their work faster and your fees smaller.

// common questions

Asked before. Answered honestly.

Do you replace our bookkeeper?
No. A good bookkeeper becomes more valuable with an FC structuring their work. If you don't have one, we'll tell you honestly whether you actually need one yet.
Do you replace our accountant?
No. Tax returns, statutory accounts, and filings stay with your accountant. We hand them clean, reconciled numbers, which usually means a smaller bill.
What software do you work in?
Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and most others. We work in your systems, not ours. No forced migrations, no new licences.
What does no lock-in actually mean?
Engagements run monthly. Scale days up during budget season or a funding round, scale down when things are steady, or stop with a month's notice.
How quickly can you start?
Days, not weeks. A 30-minute discovery call, a clear proposal, then access and setup, usually inside a week.
What size of business is this for?
Typically £1m–£15m turnover, owner-managed. Below that, a good bookkeeper is usually enough, and if that's you, we'll say so.
Do you do tax or VAT returns?
No. That stays with your accountant. We prepare and reconcile everything they need, they review and file. Clean handoffs, no duplicated fees.

Who we
are.

A straightforward business run by someone who's spent over a decade working inside growing businesses, not advising them from the outside. There's a difference, and it matters.

Built from the inside out.

OneEleven was founded on a simple observation: most growing businesses reach a point where their bookkeeper isn't enough and a full-time FC isn't justifiable. That gap is where things go wrong, and it's exactly where we work.

With over a decade spent working as a Finance Controller inside SMEs and owner-managed businesses, we know what that gap looks like from the inside. The messy books before year-end. The cash flow that nobody's watching closely enough. The management accounts that tell you what happened but not why.

OneEleven exists to fix that. Not as a consultant parachuting in with a report, but as a working part of your finance function: getting the numbers right, building the processes, and giving you the visibility you need to run your business with confidence.

// from the founder

"You'll get your numbers straight, and you'll get them from me. No juniors, no handoffs, no hiding behind a firm."

Jay · founder
01
Straight talking
You'll get honest answers, even when they're not what you want to hear. If the numbers say something uncomfortable, we'll tell you clearly, with a view on what to do about it.
02
Hands-on, not hands-off
We do the work: month-end close, cash flow forecasts, audit prep, system improvements. The deliverables are real, not PowerPoints.
03
Invested in the outcome
We work inside your business. That means we care about the result, not just the output. Your numbers improving is what success looks like.
04
Accessible when it matters
A cash flow question, a board deadline, something that can't wait: if it's urgent, you can reach us. We're not a firm with a switchboard and a ticket system.
// our background
// sector

Owner-managed businesses

We work exclusively with SMEs and owner-managed businesses. Not corporates, not listed companies. We understand the pressures, the decisions, and what good financial control actually looks like at this scale.
// experience

A decade on the inside

Over ten years working inside growing businesses, not advising them from the outside. We've seen what happens when finance is an afterthought, and what's possible when it's done right.
// model

Fractional by design

The fractional model isn't a compromise. It's the right answer for most growing businesses: senior expertise, flexible commitment, no overhead. We built OneEleven around that belief.
// honest about fit

We work best with a specific kind of business.

We'd rather be upfront about who we're right for than try to be everything to everyone. If the following sounds like you, we'll probably get on well.

  • SMEs turning over £1m–£15m who need more than a bookkeeper
  • Owner-managed and founder-led businesses who want financial control without a full-time hire
  • Family businesses that have grown quickly and need proper financial structure
  • Businesses going through change: growth, investment, restructuring, or succession
  • MDs and CEOs who want honest numbers and straight answers, not financial jargon
  • Businesses whose lenders expect proper reporting, and who want it produced in-house
  • Any business where the finance function is holding back growth rather than enabling it
